a very special thank you

i realize the items on my 30 days of thanks are a desultory compilation of things in my life. some are serious, some are just for fun, but i feel it’s representative of who i am. i’ve been so very blessed and am trying to appreciate everything in this world. whether that be the political process or headbands, i’m so very grateful for it adding something of value to my life.

today is an all together unsurprising, inevitable, and very much heartfelt day for thanks.

on today, this eleventh day of the eleventh month, i’m thankful for our veterans.

there’s nothing i can say that will be more eloquent, well written, or of value to the conversation, but a momentous heartfelt thank you to everyone who has served. your efforts are appreciated every day, but particularly this day. thank you.

Requiem æternam dona eis, Domine,
et lux perpetua luceat eis.

Your great post reminds me of my favorite quote by President Reagan.
“We see these soldiers in our mind as old and wise… grave and gray haired. But most of them were boys when they died, and they gave up two lives — the one they were living and the one they would have lived. When they died, they gave up their chance to be husbands and fathers and grandfathers… They gave up everything for our country, for us.”
